When you think of Branson, Missouri first thing that comes to mind isn’t The Titanic. But it is home to one of the largest Titanic Museum attractions in the United States. See more than 400 certified artifacts, touch an ice berg and walk the stair case back to 1912. It’s time to explore the Titanic Branson.

Surviving the Titanic Museum in Branson, Missouri
I know all the words to “My Heart Will Go On” and love the story of Jack and Rose, but didn’t know much beyond that 1997 blockbuster. That was until I stepped aboard the Titanic Branson. Whether you’re a history buff or a Leo DiCaprio fan as soon as you walk up to that massive ship you’ll be memorized.
Boarding the Ship
Each guest aboard the Titanic Branson will be given a boarding pass with the name and bio of an actual passenger that was on the Titanic on in 1912. The information given on the boarding pass is simple, but the connection is almost immediate.
I was given Rosa “Rhoda” Abbott. A 39 year old single mother of two boys. As 3rd class passengers Rosa and her boys didn’t get extravagant quarters, but were happy to be on board heading to what they hoped would be a better life.
Rosa ended up in the freezing water, but whether she or her boys survived – I didn’t know. I was left to wonder. Filled with hope that “I” would survive the Titanic Museum in Branson.
Unexpected Emotional Journey
Like I said before, I didn’t know much about the Titanic. Which left me completely unaware of how it would affect me. Walking into each gallery adds another piece to the puzzle allowing your mind to create the full picture of devastation.
Exploring the Titanic Branson – Self Guided Tour
We had a guide as part of our media tour, but it is usually a self guided tour. Which I love! It allows you to explore at your own pace and really take everything in.
There is so much information contained in such a small space. And make sure to keep an eye out for areas that relate to “you” and your boarding pass!
My advice is to take it slow, read everything and be open to your emotions.
Fun and Educational – How to get the Kids Excited
Ok, let’s keep it 100% real – my tweens are more interested in video games and YouTube than learning about “some old ship”. They’d go willingly… But would be looking down at their phones the entire time. (sigh) That is until I whip out the scavenger hunt! They might have their mom’s competitive streak.
Now, they would be interested in who survived and who didn’t, but then they’d want to rush through to the end. With the scavenger hunt they would be having fun and learning, which for any parent it is a win-win!
Discovering the Survivors
There is an entire exhibit focusing on the survivors and listing what is known about their life after the Titanic. I was shocked to find out that “I”, Rosa “Rhoda” Abbott survived. Unfortunately, her sons did not.
I wanted to know more about my person, so I came home and did some research on her. There wasn’t much to be found beyond what I had learned at the museum, but it fun to research.

We had a wonderful time exploring the museum. I left with a better understanding of what happened that fateful night and brought to life all the passengers that were on board. I look forward to taking my kids for some educational fun!
