Speculation has been running rampant about the new Sonic the Hedgehog trailer dropping. And finally it’s here! Check it out and get ready to see the film in theaters February 14, 2020.
Sonic the Hedgehog has been the face video games since 1991 when he made his first appearance in the self-titled Sega Genesis game. He quickly became a household name and is still a favorite among fans of all ages.
First Trailer Disaster
We got our first look at the film in April 2019 and it was very apparent that Sonic didn’t look right. To say fans were outraged is probably putting it nicely. The loveable blue face just wasn’t the same.
And thankfully Paramount Studios quickly responded to the outcry and decided to go back to the drawing board.
Pushing the release date back
Sonic the Hedgehog movie was originally scheduled to be released November 8, 2019, but that would have been pushing it with all the changes that needed to be made.
So they made the decision to push the release date back by just over three months.
Sonic the Hedgehog will be in theaters on my birthday…
What don’t you know what date that is? February 14, 2020.
My reaction to the new Sonic the Hedgehog trailer
First, let me drop a Piko Piko hammer – I was one of the first-ever to see the trailer! Yep, I saw it when I visited Paramount Studios last Friday, November 8, 2019, with The Geekly Retreat. Ironically, the same date it was supposed to originally be in theaters.
Let’s just say that Sonic looks 1000 times better. He looks like the Sonic that we all grew up with.
So, I’m not a huge Jim Carrey fan. Don’t ask me why because I honestly don’t know. But dang if he doesn’t kill it as Dr. Robotnik and I’m kind of here for it.
Overall the new film looks really good. I know my whole family is looking forward to seeing Sonic on the big screen! Especially now with his new look.
