As the newest streaming service, Disney+ is wasting no time to introduce us to original content. Including the magical holiday tale, Noelle. How does it compare to a Hallmark Christamas movie, is Noelle kid friendly? I’ve got all the deets you need!
Disney+ launched on November 12, 2019, and Noelle is there with bells on!
Is the movie kid-friendly?
Yes, overall it is very kid-friendly. No swearing, but there are a few adult themes in the film including divorce and homelessness. Both of these are done in such a way that they open the door for conversations to be had.
It also shows kids that bad habits or a bad grade or two don’t put you on the naughty list. Mistakes happen and that is all a part of being a kid. I loved that because I have perfectionist children who would rather not try than fail. And that kills me. But this movie gave us a little “proof” that we’re not just full of hot air and it’s ok to have the wrong answer or make mistakes.
Can it compete with a Hallmark Christmas movie?
I’m a Hallmark Christmas movie fan. I have them all listed on my calendar and watch every single one throughout the season. And since we start our holiday season in September I watch a lot of Christmas movies. I’m kinda a Christmas movie connoisseur. No joke.
Noelle is a heartwarming, pun-filled tale that can hold it’s own when put up against any holiday film. And that includes Hallmark ones.
Overall review
I’m an Anna Kendrick fangirl and literally think she walks on water. And I adore Christmas. So, I went to the screening pumped. And I’m so happy that it lived up to my expectations because if it didn’t I would have been devastated. And probably still hiding under my covers crying.
But to say I loved Noelle is a complete understatement. I L-O-V-E-D it. I laughed, I cried, I laughed some more and cried till I didn’t have any tears left.
So many people underestimate original streaming movies, but I have found there are tons that could easily be on the big screen. And Noelle is one of them.
The film has a depth to it that some may overlook due to the Christmas song puns. But don’t. Rewatch it if you have to. The real-life situations that Noelle addresses give parents the perfect jumping-off point to talk to their kids about what others may be going through during the holidays.
About Noelle
In Disney+’s holiday comedy “Noelle,” Kris Kringle’s daughter is full of Christmas spirit and holiday fun but wishes she could do something “important” like her beloved brother Nick, who will take over for their father this Christmas. When Nick is about to crumble like a gingerbread cookie from all the pressure, Noelle suggests he take a break and getaway…but when he doesn’t return, Noelle must find her brother and bring him back in time to save Christmas.
