Is Disney On Ice Worth the Money?

Disney on Ice is a fun family event that is sure to come to a town near you! But is Disney On Ice worth the money? I’ve got my opinion and some valuable tips.

Is Disney On Ice Worth the Money?

I’m a budget conscious person and a lot of times we pass up on stadium events, because of that. But my family got the chance to experience Disney on Ice Mickey’s Search Party recently and we had so much fun! Due to funds we hadn’t been to a Disney on Ice event in about six years. 

What tickets should be buy?

I am all about cheap seats, but with Disney on Ice I’d recommend purchasing the best seats you can afford! We were fairly close, in the lower 100s, and our seats were decent. We could see almost everything, when we  weren’t dodging the heads of jumping and dancing kids. 

Do we need to purchase souvenirs? 

I’m a nope on this one, but my kids are older. Yes, my 11 year old wanted something… Anything. But I know it would have just ended up on the floor or under the bed. 

If I had younger kids, may be just may be, I’d have fallen for those big brown puppy dog eyes begging for something. So, if that’s you. Think about if it’s worth $30-50 for a toy? But honestly, I’d suggest having them bring their favorite Disney plush or doll instead!

Is it cold? What should we wear?

It is definitely colder inside the venue for Disney On Ice! But it honestly varies from person to person just how much the lower temps bother them. For me, I wore jeans and a very light weight sweatshirt and I was still freezing most of the time. Sat there wishing I had pulled out my winter sweatshirt.

Now for full disclosure, it was summer in Central Florida and I may have turned into a cold weather wimp. 

Should we buy food there? 

I always go in with the best intentions of eating before we go. Yeah, that never works out. I end up paying WAY TO MUCH for food that my kids barely eat because they want cotton candy or shaved ice.

I recommend eating before you go, even if it’s running through the McDonald’s drive thru. And then since you said no to souvenirs, you can surprise them with a cotton candy or another sweet treat. Bonus – these usually come with something extra like a foam hat or in a special cup.

Should you go or not? 

Overwhelmingly, GO! Splurge on the tickets and cut costs where you can, if needed. My kids loved it, even the 20 year old and her friend had a great time. They were singing along and I’m fairly sure they wanted to jump up and down a few times.
