Avengers: Infinity War – Thor Cupcakes
I am a newer a Marvel Comic nerd. Ever since the first Avengers hit theaters. Comics are foreign to me, but action packed movies I can get behind. The MCU nerd in me has been slowly building for the past 10 years and tomorrow it all comes to a head, because Avengers: Infinity War officially hits theaters! And to celebrate I’ve teamed up with a fantastic group of bloggers to bring you an EPIC prize pack giveaway. Enter at the end of this post.
Spoilers have been running amok online since yesterday, so today I decided to avoid them at all costs… Baking is my outlet, so thanks to those that can’t keep to the MCU pact – my diet is shot for the week! But I did get to bake this fun Thor Hammer cupcake cake. It’s perfect for that Infinity War party you know you wanna throw.
Now, I went into this whole thing with a plan. My daughter said it was just a piece of paper with circles drawn on it, but let me tell you it was very scientific.
Ok, so yes I totally cheated and used box cake mix… I normally do it all from scratch, but I was lazy.
But I did add a little food coloring to enhance it. Ha! My daughter said they looked like Captain America cupcakes because of the red and blue. Maybe she’s right… (shh we won’t tell her)
As lazy as I was with using cake mix, I can’t do that with frosting. I did a basic buttercream and used brown and black food coloring to get the right shades for the hammer.
Buttercream Frosting Recipe
- 1 cup unsalted butter softened
- 2 1/2 – 3 cups powdered sugar
- 2 tablespoons vanilla (I use homemade as it taste better)
Cream butter with the whisk attachment for a few minutes (I never time anything) and then gradually add the powder sugar making sure it’s fully mixed in before adding more. Increase the speed of your mixer and whip until fluffy. Again I don’t time anything, so I may whip it too much. I actually leave the room quite frequently when making frosting. Once it’s all fluffy add the vanilla and whip it some more.
Frosting a cupcake cake can be a little intimidating, but it’s really super easy! I was out of my frosting bags, so I used a gallon size ziplock and cut the end off for these. It doesn’t need to be pretty because you’re just going to spread it all around; making sure to lightly cover all the holes.
And That is it!

I haven’t seen any MCU films ever, so can’t pick a favorite.
