The Incredibles ended on a cliffhanger in 2004 and we’ve been waiting ever since. The wait is finally over on Friday, June 15th, 2018. Did The Incredibles survive, are they out of hiding and what powers did Jack Jack end up with? These are all questions we’ve been asking for 14 years, so was Incredibles 2 worth the wait?
Incredibles 2 – Worth the 14 Year Wait
Disclaimer: I attended a media screening for Incredibles 2. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I’m going to hide behind my computer as I say this – I wasn’t necessarily looking forward to Incredibles 2. Trust me, I’m hanging my head in shame right now. In my defense, it’s been 14 YEARS! My kids are older and YouTube, Marvel & Star Wars movies and video games are what holds their attention. So, I wasn’t sure if there was enough to keep them in their seats without electronics.
But I was wrong!
Yep, I admit it. I was wrong, wrong, wrong!
This movies is filled with action and had us on the edge of our seats at times. It was suspenseful, which I wasn’t expecting from an animated film.
My favorite part was how realistic it was at portraying parenting. I think at some point they came to my house and spied on my ridiculously messy life. At certain times, the moms in the audience were laughing (because it spoke to them) and you knew the dads were shaking their heads in denial.
Character development
Unlike many sequels, this one picked up right at the end of the first Incredibles film. But, I feel like the characters had grown in strides. They were very relatable and I believe they will speak to children of all ages. Heck, they tackle boy troubles! That’s something I don’t even like to deal with.
Jack Jack and Auntie Edna
Oh these two stole the show in Incredibles and they did it again in Incredibles 2. Oh Jack Jack – I just want to squish his chubby cheeks and squeeze him. Edna Mode – She is a superhero in her own right. Absolutely fabulous!
How Did it Stack up?
The questions we’ve asked for years – well, they may be answered, they may not be… Darlings, I want to tell you ALL ABOUT it, but mum’s the word. What I will say is unequivocally yes, Incredibles 2 was worth wait. And dare I say it was better than the first!?
While you’re waiting here are some Incredible FREE printables that include an fab waffle recipe.
