2019 was already going to be a big year at Walt Disney World, but in Disney style they are overloading us with new adventures! Check out just a snippet of what to expect when visiting Disney World in 2019.
What is new for Disney World In 2019
This is where I get to scream – I’m a Disney World local! To be honest, there are times I wish we’d have settled up North, because um, snow. But my life would have been filled with Disney FOMO and there is so much happening at the Disney World Parks next year!
Magic Kingdom Park – Mickey & Minnie’s Surprise Celebration
Beginning January 18, 2019, Mickey & Minnie’s Surprise Celebration takes over Magic Kingdom Park. This once in a lifetime party honors those that started it all, Mickey & Minnie.
Guests will find new merchandise, lively entertainment and unique eats and drinks!
Take in the all new “Move It! Shake It! MousekeDance It! Street Party” parade that will make it’s way down Main Street, U.S.A. heading to Cinderella Castle where Guests can join in and show off their ultimate dance skills to fun remixes of favorite songs, including “Mickey Mouse Club”.
Don’t worry your favorite classic characters, such as Donald Duck, Daisy Duck, Goofy, Max, Pluto, Chip ‘n’ Dale plus a few others will be there dancing right along with you.
Not to be left out of the fun, Main Street, U.S.A. locals will be honoring Mickey & Minnie with fun musical performances. Catch the Dapper Dans, the Casey’s Corner piano player and others out on Main Street, U.S.A. from January 18 – September 30, 2018!
Disney’s Animal Kingdom Park – Celebrate 25 Years of “The Lion King”
Can you believe it’s been almost 25 years since we met and fell in love with Simba, Pumba and Timon and learned what “Hakuna Matata” meant!
Running every day, starting January 18 through September 30, 2019, the “Hakuna Matata Time Dance Party” will let young ones let their inner jungle animal roar while Timon and Rafiki lead “The Lion King” inspired games and dances.
While there, don’t miss the new limited time photo opportunities! Jump into the classic movie scenes with new three-dimensional backdrops – make sure to share your photos with others on social media!
Disney’s Hollywood Studios – 30 Years In the Making
Greatness takes time and Disney’s Hollywood Studios is finally coming into it’s own!
Big things were announced for Hollywood Studios in 2015 at D23 Expo and this summer Toy Story Land brought the changes to life. But that was just the beginning! In late 2019, the largest expansion EVER will open it’s doors to Guests – Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.
But before that, Pixar Pals will continue to invade the park to join their Toy Story friends! Walk into Municiberg when Pixar Place gets an “Incredible” transformation.
Join the hunt for everyone’s favorite infant, Jack-Jack and check out some of Auntie Edna’s fabulous designs. And Dahrling – make sure to snap a picture with Ms. Mode before she disappears. At the end of the block, find some of your favorite “Incredibles” characters who will be entertaining Guests with dance parties, games and so much more!
With changes comes good-byes, as Guests say “see a later” to Star-Lord and baby Groot the door to Metropolis opens to welcome Sulley and Mike back for a monster filled meet & greet.
In Spring of 2019, step into the world of “Cars” with an all new show experience lead by the one and only Lightning McQueen. Racing rookies will learn from the best and get to hear the “untold story of Lightning McQueen” told by the only one that could do it justice – Lightning McQueen himself.
Epcot- Festivals, Eats and More Music
Kicking off the 2019 festival season is the third annual Epcot International Festival of Arts. Guests will be able to try yummy bites and drinks and gorgeous art from around the world January 18 – February 25, 2019.
New for 2019, the Disney on Broadway music series will be hitting the stage seven days a week!
Epcot International Flower and Garden Festival will also expand it’s musical performances to seven days a week. That means every day, March 6 to June 3, 2019, Guests can snack on fun food at the outdoor kitchens, check out the newest Disney topiaries and listen to the Garden Rocks Concert Series.
Rounding out the hellos and good-byes is Epcot’s nightly show – Illuminations: Reflections of Earth. After 20 years, it’s time to wish a fond farewell to the crowd favorite, Illuminations. We don’t know much about the show that will be replacing it, but it’s guaranteed to hold to the original park vision and incorporate the exciting new evolution of Epcot.
I’m not usually a huge fan of change, but in the wise words of Walt Disney “We keep moving forward, opening new doors, and doing new things, because we’re curious and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths.“
Disney World in 2019 is sure to lead us down some new paths including a stop in Municiberg, a visit with the Mickey Mouse Club and a journey around the world!
