Disney is known for making magic happen, but don’t be fooled into thinking it means anything goes. There are some everyday items that are now banned from Disney Parks, but you might be surprised at what you can bring from home! This guide breaks down what is now banned at Disney Parks.
What is Banned at Disney Parks
Disney Parks made a major announcement recently about some items that will be banned as of May 1. 2019. Since I know there are many that don’t follow Disney Parks as closely as I do, I decided it would be a good idea to put together this guide of what is banned at Disney Parks now.
Loose ice is not allowed into Disney Parks
On May 1st, 2019, Guests will no longer be able to bring loose ice into the parks. What does this mean? Well, for guests who bring in coolers filled with ice – that will no longer be allowed.
Why? Loose ice in a cooler is a security risk. It’s difficult to dig around in a cooler filled with loose ice to make sure there isn’t any banned items or safety concerns at the bag check area.
Stroller wagons (Keenz) are banned at Disney World and Disneyland
Wagons have been banned from Disney World and Disneyland for many years. But recently the popularity of pushable wagons namely the Keenz wagon has grown. Disney ignored the problem for a while but recently decided to update the wording under the “no wagon rule” to include stroller wagons.
Why the change to exclude stroller wagons? This one is pure speculation, but the Keenz wagons are bulky and can be difficult to push when filled. This can make maneuvering Disney walkways difficult which can cause backups on the already crowded walkways.

Large strollers will not be allowed in Disney Parks
Starting May 1st, 2019, strollers larger greater than 31″ (79 cm) in width and 52″ (132 cm) in length.
Prior to the new change, the size limit of strollers was nothing larger than 36″ in width and 52″ in length. Which definitely leads to the assumption that once again Disney is trying to combat congested walkways throughout the parks since they are only shrinking the width of the stroller allowed. But since Disney never pulled out a measuring tape many didn’t know about the size limit.
How will Disney be measuring strollers? There have been pictures floating around showing a box painted on the ground at the bag check area. Your stroller must fit inside this box to be allowed in the park.
Smoking is banned at Disneyland and Disney World Parks
Starting May 1st, 2019, smoking will not be allowed inside Disney Parks. The Disney smoking ban includes cigarettes, vaping, smoking pipes and more.
Surprisingly, when the ban was first announce there wasn’t as much outrage as one would expect. Nothing compared to the drama surrounding the Keenz ban!
With the opening of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge just around the corner, I think Disney is trying to figure out how to manage the massive crowds. The locations of some of the smoking areas, especially in Disneyland Park, are prime spaces for more walkways.
These three newly banned items join a growing list that includes selfie sticks, glass containers and so much more! You can find a complete list of items restricted at Disney World and Disneyland on the Disney website.
