The 2019 D23 Expo hasn’t even officially kicked off and they are dropping major tidbits left and right! Here are 6 D23 Expo announcements including some big news for Disney Parks.
This is the first year since 2015 that I am not attending the D23 Expo and it’s killing me. Unfortunately, I had to adult in my real life but I’ll be following all of the news and making sure I pass it along to you in an expedited fashion!
1. One Day at Disney
We all sat on pins and needles waiting for Disney to spill the beans on the “Secret Disney Project” yesterday and finally the news was revealed… Many were thinking it was going to be something new for the parks or even a new park. But that didn’t happen.
Instead, Disney announced a new documentary coming to Disney+ and a 224-page coffee table book that will follow Cast Members from around the Globe for one day.
The book will be released on December 3rd, 2019, but is available for pre-order NOW. And on the same day, Disney+ will have a feature-length documentary followed by a 52 episode short-form series “One Day at Disney“.
2. Marvel Land Name Revealed
Even though, I’m partial to Marvel Land (I mean all the other areas are “lands”…) I get it – Disney needs to spice things up.
Marvel’s Avengers Campus will connect Guests from Disneyland to Disneyland Paris to Hong Kong Disneyland as they recruit forces to join them on a global mission.
Avengers Campus is slated to open at Disney’s California Adventure at the beginning of 2020! It will be followed by the international parks.
3. Walt Disney Imagineering presents the Epcot Experience
On October 1st, 2019, the Walt Disney Imagineering presents the Epcot Experience opens.
This interactive exhibit will give Guests a look into Epcot’s future and showcase the innovation behind the parks new design.
4. Epcot’s Transformation
We’ve seen rendering of what the front of Epcot is going to look like, but now we can envision a whole new world.
With the newest artist rendering, we see that there will be four neighborhoods. Each one taking Guests on an epic adventure to new destinations.
5. Moana Attraction Coming to Epcot
That’s right folks, Epcot will get another animated film inspired attraction. The Journey of Water, inspired by Moana will “invite Guests to meet and play with magical water”.
I expect we’ll hear more about this new attraction on Sunday at the Disney Parks panel at the D23 Expo.
6. Star Wars Hotel has a Name
Y’all, this is what I’ve been waiting for… Well besides pricing and opening date. But I’m not going to complain about now having a name for my new home.
Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser will be an “all-immersive adventure” starting from the moment you step aboard the Halcyon owned by Chandrila Star Line.

The experience will include “well-appointed cabins, onboard dining and will make planet side excursions to Black Spire Outpost on Batuu.”
Now, there have been rumored pricing flying around and while I fully believe this adventure will come with a hefty price tag – I’m not 100% sold on this rumor. The hotel isn’t expected to open anytime soon, so please take rumors with a grain of salt.
After the major news we’ve gotten so far, I can’t wait for more 2019 D23 Expo announcements to start dropping.
